GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.
One of the German Technical Cooperation programs financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development supports government, private sector and civil society stakeholders in the provinces of Siem Reap, Bantey Meanchey and Oddar Meanchey to promote inclusive economic development and poverty alleviation. The Cambodian-German Cooperation Program "Regional Economic Development III - RED" aims at a growing turnover of regional products, the development of new business opportunities, and increased employment and follows a market driven approach. RED fosters better cooperation within value chains, promotes partnerships between the public and private sectors and capacitates business federations to provide services to their members.
The Program offers the following position for an Economic Development Facilitator (national professional, position based in Bantey Meanchey or Oddar Meanchey). It is a long-term position with a challenging level of responsibility.
The Economic Development Facilitator facilitates the implementation of measures in the area of local and regional economic development. He/she also facilitates the institutionalization of business development services (BDS) and other private sector promotion instruments that strengthen the economic development in rural areas. |

Duties
- Facilitate local partners in planning and implementing value chain upgrading measures
- Assist in identifying needs for business development services and facilitate the market-oriented establishment of demanded services
- Support organizational development of business associations and other relevant institutions
- Assess the economic development potential of value chains and sub-sectors, as well as of economic development initiatives
- Identify and promote business opportunities for MSME - particularly in the agro-processing sub-sector
- Assist in identifying the capacity building needs of key players and identify, implement and/or organize capacity building measures
- Prepare and moderate workshops, seminars, stakeholder meetings as well as training sessions
