Finance Manager
Duties
- Managing the organization’s financial systems efficiently
- Assisting the Executive Director and Service Leaders in the preparation of annual budgets
- Reviewing and signing all receipts for cash or wire transfer donations received
- Reviewing and certifying all authorised cheque request forms before they are processed on QuickBooks
- Reviewing and authorising all cash settlements
- Undertaking spot checks on entries by the Accountant on QuickBooks
- Reviewing monthly bank reconciliations performed by the Accountant against the bank statement for accuracy and completeness
- Preparing monthly and quarterly financial progress reports for internal and donor reporting
- Responding to finance specific queries from donors
- Identifying and highlighting to Service Leaders budgets at risk of becoming overspent and agree corrective action
- Liaising with the Executive Director on financial matters and bringing any irregularities to his/her attention urgently
- Updating cash flow forecast on a monthly basis after the completion of bank reconciliations
- Comparing available deposit interest rates on a monthly basis, before agreeing amounts to place on deposit given cash flow requirements of the following month.
- Approving all general journals processed by Accountant at the end of the month
- Monitoring progress against timescales within the month end procedure
- Monitoring progress against timescales within the year-end procedure
- Liaising with external auditors in responding to documentation requests and queries
- Carrying out internal audit in each service once a year
- Identifying training needs of finance staff and providing appropriate training
- Backing up all financial electronic files weekly
Requirements
- University degree in accounting, financial management, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as part of a finance team in a Not-for-Profit or NGO
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Finance Manager or in an equivalent post with line management responsibility for other staff
- Financial planning and budgeting experience
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting system
- English proficiency
- Mature Christian with high level of integrity, demonstrating regular church attendance
- Self-starter when required
- Able to work in a collaborative working style
- Must agree to and support PFC's belief, values, and mission
