Legal Aid of Cambodia “LAC” is a non-governmental organization. Its mission is to provide quality legal aid, legal and human rights outreach education, and advocacy to the poor in Cambodia in order to ensure access to justice, promote the respect of law, secure human rights, and advance legal and judicial reform. LAC is seeking for a qualified Cambodian lawyer for a project named Promotion Child Friendly Community through the Development of a National Child Protection System in Cambodia of Child Justice Program based in Siem Reap province. |

Duties
- Legal representation in court, including gathering of evidence, studying law, informing and advising client and family, liaising with law enforcement officials and writing legal memorandums.
- Conducting research, compiling, writing, focus on standard setting children friendly manuals covering criminal law and procedure, any laws related to children’s rights and policy.
- Investigates facts and law of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly.
- Files pleadings with court clerk, delivers or directs delivery of subpoenas to witnesses and parties to action.
- Ensuring that there are formal memoranda of all interviews and meetings with witnesses, lawyers, representatives of the government or judiciary, or professionals consulting on cases.
- Maintains confidentiality client case file and personnel related information.
- Provide training/legal consultation to communities
- Working on reports and compile it to program managers
- Any other jobs as assigned by Program Manager/Project Manager
Requirements
- Be a member of the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia (BAKC)
- Experience in providing legal representation in the court
- Experience in providing legal training to communities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with clients/in team
- Knowledge of understanding the Cambodian laws and international instruments related to children
- Good written and spoken English
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and E-mail)
